Hautelook Haul: Corioliss

I have been lusting after a clipless curling iron for as long as I can remember and lately, I've seen more and more bloggers do looks from their clipless irons. So when Hautelook had a sale on them, I jumped at the chance of getting one.

Ta daaa ... this is my Corioliss - The Wand - 18mm

This baby was $40, which isn't that bad for a pro kind of hair tool. I debated on this for a long time and then I just placed my order. They also had a bunch of different sizes and I think this was the largest one.

One thing that really surprised me was how lightweight it was. It literally feels like you are holding nothing. Even the barrel doesn't weight much. I'm not gonna lie, I thought it was kinda cheapie when I picked it up.

BUT THEN I USED IT!!! lol The iron is amazing and actually created the looks that you see on everyone's blogs.  My hair is not very thick at all and layered so even thought I copied a couple of looks, they're not exactly the same.

One word of advice ... USE THE HEAT GLOVE!!! It comes with the box. There is no room to put your hand anywhere on the wand except on the handle. I stubbornly didn't use it and burned my hand before putting on the glove.

Blanket Coats are in this Fall!?

I can't believe this is a fall trend this year. It's reminiscent of when me and my parents used to take vacations in the Winter and when we would stop for food (usually a cheapie diner), they would wrap me up in one of their hideous blankets and drag in inside. This trend will always being a smile to my face just for that.

But on the real side, who is going to actually participate in this trend? It seems a little too trendy for me and after the style's out, who would touch my leftover blanket coats.

Here's some of Elle's recommendations ...

Lindsay Thornburg's Mid-Length Cloak, Available at Oak.

Hel Looks, Helskini, Finland

Wool-blend cape, A.L.C., $693, collection at barneys.com
Wool-blend poncho, Madewell, $275, visitmadewell.com

Stila gift with purchase

I'm not sure if this is a great promotion or not, but Stila is giving away 5 full sized smudge sticks with $100 purchase. I've never used their smudge sticks before so I can't say if it's good or not, but if you need to stock up, this is a good gift with purchase.

Mini Haul: Sephora

I went to Sephora a while ago while I was home and I just noticed that I didn't post this mini haul. Whoops. Since that time period, I've used a couple of these products so I'll write what I think underneath them.

Korres Anti-aging Primer
I've seen a lot of people rave about this primer. I've never tried it before so I picked some up to try.

EDIT: I've used this primer a couple of times now and I can't say I'm a huge fan. I don't think it does much for making my foundation last longer and the texture of it is nothing to write home about. I think I just need to play with it some more and see which foundation would work the best with it.

NARS Blush in Orgasm
This is definitely a cult favorite and a blush that people can't stop talking about. I had to get my hands on it and see what all the fuss is about!

EDIT: I can see why everyone loves this blush now. I like the way it sits on my skin, but I wouldn't say this is my HG blush like some people. There is also a lot more shimmer in this blush than I expected.

Dior Addict Lipstick in 762 Paris
I've also never tried any of the Dior's lipsticks and I'm always looking for a good colored pink. I love this shade. It's not too sheer and it's not to rosy. Just the perfect pink!

EDIT: I've worn this a couple of times now and I still can't get over how much I love the pink. It almost reminds me of tinted lip balm and the best part is that it's still super moisturizing.

Do you Clarisonic?!

So I finally bit the bullet and bought myself a Clarisonic. This has been on my wish list for a long long time, but I never got it because it's so darn expensive! I've thought about buying one of the knock offs, but Holly Ann-AeRee said none of the others compare. From then on, it was the Clarisonic or nothing!

It retails for $195 on the Sephora website, but I found a really good deal on Askderm.com, where I got the whole set for $137.35 and it came with a free travel bag and extra brush head. It was such a steal I couldn't resist!

Of course I picked up the pink LE version! It's the one that benefits Brest Cancer Awareness.

For those that are not farmiliar with the Clarisonic, here's a little bit of information...

What it is:

Stacked heels this fall!?

So I bought my issue of InStyle and I was looking over the trends for this fall. One of them is something called a stacked heel. I literally had to google it to make sure I wasn't mistaken.

Definition: Usually brown or beige, stacked heels are designed to give the illusion of thin layers of wood that have been stacked up to create a flat, wedge, or high heel [via about.com]

I'm undecided if I like this style. Anyone else gonna jump on this trend?!

REVIEW: Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint

I got these samples in my Birchbox a while ago and I finally got around to using them. I got one packet in Golden and one in Pearl. The sample packets had enough for one application.

What it is: Jouer’s oil-free Luminizing Moisture Tint feels positively weightless on but gives you plenty of even coverage. Skin looks soft and dewy and, thanks to SPF 20, you’ll be extra protected from the sun.

How it works: The formula has light-diffusing minerals, which give skin a soft glow and also smooth over any fine lines. Antioxidants like ginseng and gingko biloba leaf extract help improve skin, and SPF 20 wards off UVA and UVB rays.

Ingreadents: Titanium Dioxide 0.05%, Zinc Oxide 0.05%. Inactive Ingredients: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Propylene Glycol, Octyldodecyl Neopentanoate, Peg/Ppg-18/18 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Magnesium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Zinc Chloride, Lysine, Panax Ginseng Roodt Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Phytantriol, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Boron Nitride, Glycerin, Palmitic Acid, Dextrin Palmitate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben. May Contain (+/-): Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Iron Oxides.

Color: There are 5 shades total (Pearl, Golden, Glow, Bronzed, Deep Bronze). The samples I got were Pearl and Golden. Golden is good for my NC35 skintone. I don't think the limited selection matters because the coverage is so sheer.

Scent: There isn't a scent to this product.

Coverage: The coverage is definitely light to medium. The thickness of the product is really deceiving because it comes out super thick like a foundation, but when applied it just evens out the skin tone and not really covers much. If you have heaver scars or blemishes, it would take more than one coat to cover everything.

Finish: The finish is pretty dewey. I would compare this finish to Revlon's Photo Ready. It has a lot of shimmer in it. And it was also really shiny in certain places, especially underneath my eyes and around my t-zones. Once I applied my powder, it made everything even, but I would prefer not to have to apply powder.

Overall: I would not purchase the full size of this product. The coverage was just too sheer and it didn't last a long time either. By the end of the day (just an 8 hr work shift), the product had faded (very unflattering too). When the product faded, it actually enhanced my flaws. I'm still searching for my HG TM.

Pros
  • Easy to apply
  • Coverage is buildable
  • SPF20
  • Texture
Cons
  • Sheer coverage
  • Not very long lasting
  • Price

Haul: Body Central, VS, BBW

I went on a mission today at the mall. I should have know it was going to be a big fat fails bc our local mall NEVER has anything good or useful. And especially since school just started, all the stores were ravished over.

I went into Charlotte Russe specifically looking for a certain top and a certain skirt from their website. I knew exactly what I wanted and it was going to be a quick trip. Lord behold, everything was sold out and the sales ladies had no idea what I was talking about! One of them told me that the skirt sold out weeks ago ... I could have sworn it just became available online.

So I went home and placed an order online! UGH I hate it bc the shipping sucks!

But before I left the mall, I stopped by a couple of stores.

I had an Angel's Reward card that I had to use before the end of the month, so I went into VS and picked up a pair of their Yoga Shorties. I was so torn between the cropped pants and the shorties, but I picked up the shorties bc I don't own anything like them.

I brought them to the register and the tag said they cost $29.50, but they rang up only $15. Woot! What a deal! They also had a special for a $5 laptop cause with every Pink purchase. So all in all, I only spent $10.50 after my Angel's Rewards!!

There are rhinestones on the pink words
My $5 laptop case
I also stopped by Bath and Body Works. I needed some hand soap for my bathroom. I was only going to buy one, but the sales lady somehow talked me into buying FIVE OF THEM and a CANDLE!! How in the world ... I'm such a sucker!

The candle was 50% off
The last place I stopped was Body Central. I normally don't shop in there bc their clothes isn't very well made, but they had an end of the summer special. I got three tops for $6.99 each. That's a really good deal!

First top ... Orange with beaded neackline

Second top ... White with big brown beads in a halter style

Last top ... Gray with white lace in layers

Well that's it for now. What are some of you ladies buying lately!?

Hurricane Survival!?

I saw this article on SHEfinds [via Be Better Blog] and I thought it was brilliant! What does every girl need during a hurricane!? A good pair of rain boots!

I live on the east coast and Irene is about to hit certain parts. I go to school in the mountains so we aren't really affected by it all, but a lot of people from Norfolk and VA beach are evacuating here.

All of these boots are available at Zappos.com

First up ... the famous Burberry rainboots. These retail for $195. Available here!

The next up ... I love these boots by Hunter! They're bright colored and tall so no water will get in! Available here!

Here are the rainboots that I current have. They're by Paul Frank and I bought them off of Karmaloop.com YEARS ago. I only wear them when there is light rain because they're short and sometimes water does get in.

There are so many rainboots out there, these are just a couple of my favorites.

Sephora's FANFRIDAYS

Sephora is offering a new sample every Friday for people that like their FB page! This week is a YSL mini lipstick and also they're still offering 5 samples with every order!
