3 Days Only - FGWP at Smashbox

REVIEW: Solia 1875W Thermal Ionic Blow Dryer

So I've had this dryer for a little over a week and I think I'm ready to give it a review.

The dryer is a professional one so it is a lot heavier than my old drugstore one. I don't mind the weight bc I have pretty thin hair and it doesn't take a lot of time to dry.

I have discovered that the dryer does reduce the frizz on the top of my hair. I thought maybe it was the shampoo and conditioners I was using, but I switched them and still got the same results.

Another plus is the quick drying time. It used to take me about 10 mins to dry my hair, but now it's more like 5 mins and I love it! It's perfect for someone lazy like me!

The one complaint I have is the temperature. The settings are a little bit off. The dryer has 2 temperture settings, a cool button, and 2 speeds (low and high). The lower heat setting feels like the dryer is not producing any heat at all, while the higher setting produces heat, but it doesn't feel very hot either.

I'm not sure if it's the technology, but the dryer doesn't feel like it's super hot even on high but it does get the job done and it dries my hair relatively quickly, so I can't really complain all that much.

Overall, if you are looking for a mid grade hair dryer, I would recommend this one. It's good quality and if you buy it off Folica.com, they're always having a sale or deal. And the shipping is super fast! I got mine in about 2 days!

First MAC foundation ... Select SPF15

I had to drive 45 mins away, but hopefully it's worth it. I had the MA recommend something for me since I haven't used the foundations before. I got the Select SPF 15 foundation in NC40.  I was a little torn on the type of coverage I wanted, but I started with the medium one and then I think the next foundation I'll purchase is gonna be the Studio Fix Fluid. But I heard that a lot of people break out from that one.

I felt so sorry for the MA because she was helping another girl and the girl was literally sending her from one end of the counter to the other. Normally I don't get upset very often, but the girl has to be like 15 yrs old and her daddy was buying her make up. She picked up everything, foundation, powder, falsies, mascara, lipies and eyeshadow. I felt bad for her father and the MA. I've always thought about what I would do if I had a girl, like what age I would let her have make up and what I would let her have.

The coverage is definitely medium and I haven't really tried to build it. The MA applied the foundation with both a brush and a sponge. I've tried both and I found that with either application, I still have to buff it into my skin or else it will just sit there on top and look streaky. I'm a NC40 right now and the color is perfect.

I also picked up a  Fix+. It's absolutely one of my favorites for before and after foundation application!

Haul: Sephora Part II

Hey guys! So this post is to finish up my Sephora haul. I actually made a second purchase for my cousin, but I bought the same amount of things (literally the SAME things lol)

I took pictures of the samples and the gifts with purchase.

The first part of my haul was all things from the Sephora Collection. The last couple of things I picked up were the tokidoki Prisma Lip Gloss in Sandy and two Harajuku Lovers Pencil Cases. One is clear and the other one is solid. These were only $5 as well.

I also picked up the Korres Showergel Duo in Fig and Guava Tropical Fruit. This was $5 as well. The smell of these is more earthy than fruity.

The VERY last thing was from TARINA TARANTINO and it's from their Electric Butterfly Fashion Collection. I just picked up a lip gloss cause it was $5 as well and usually the quality from Tarina Tarantino is prety decent.

I received 2 sets of the usual samples, but I also got the Smashbox HALO Hydrating Perfecting Powder deluxe sample in Medium and the 'surprise' 10 samples (code: surprise).

QUICK PEEK @ my new blowdryer!

Hi guys! Sorry I've been so MIA, but moving has made it hard to keep track of all my make up and do reviews and stuff like that. I'll try better I promise.

One of the things I've been meaning to buy is  a new blow dryer. I've had the same Vidal Sassoon drugstore blowdryer since I was a freshman. It's 6 yrs later and the thing has started to die.

I've been researching blow dryers for weeks before I picked this one, and it didn't hurt that Hautelook.com was having a sale where you can get a $50 code for only $25 for Folica.com.

I've heard really good things about the website and decided to give it a go. I couldn't pick any dryers that were around $50, so I went with a midgrade one. It was $84.99 and I only paid $30 out of pocket with cashback.

There were hundreds of reviews and many people liked it, so I picked this one. The shipping was super fast. It came in 2 days and it was also free. The only downside was that you can only use 1 coupon code per transaction and the credit was considered a code so I couldn't apply any of the other discounts.

Here's a link!

It also came with a free paddle brush and a sample of shampoo/conditioner. I appreciate it, but I have like a hundred brushes. I would have preferred a difussor or something else, even a lipgloss lol

It also came with 2 different size cones.

Sorry about the really messy room! I'm still moving!
These are the buttons on the handle of the blow dryer.
There is a cold button, 2 speeds, 2 heat settings.

NOT Beauty related but super excited none the less

So recently I've been looking at TVs. I've had old school style TVs for most of my college career. The first one was given to me by a friend and the second one was given to me by an ex-bf. I never had to buy them.

I told my dad that i wanted a new TV just to see his reaction and surprisingly, he was all for it. He just didnt want me to bring the old TVs back to the house after college. I could hear my mom in the background saying she didn't want the old piece of junks either LOL

So my friend and I went and picked out this 32 inch Sharp. He was the TV expert and I was a deer in the headlights.  I nodded at everything he said and pretended that I knew what he was talking about. 1080p? 760p? 29'? 32? 55'?

Lord was I lost but we finally came home with this bad boy ...

Haul: Sephora Part I

I feel like I have been Sephora deprived. I've been moving this week and there was a pretty decent sale going on, so I decided to treat myself. I got like 15 things for $50. I got suckered into the free shipping deal and they have a code right now (SURPRISE) where you can get 10 different samples for free.
Of course, everything I bought was from the sale section and somethings I'm going to keep for myself and somethings I'm going to gift away. I know my little cousin loves little nick-nacks so I wanted to get her some of the random stuff.

I split the haul into 2 parts bc I didn't want to bombard you with pictures! lol

I bought a couple of different things from the SEPHORA COLLECTION. I've been wanting to try out the quality of their make up, but I feel for the price of Sephora brand, I can get something name brand. I'm just weird like that.

I bought 2 bottles of the Hydrating & Smoothing Foundation. I looked on the foundation matrix and I was between colors, so I bought it in both D30 and D33. If it's lighter, I can always save it for the colder months. ANNNND the best part was that it was FIVE DOLLARS! It's even cheaper than the drug store brands. Now I just hope it's as good.
The foundation when swatched was kinda watery but bleneded out pretty well. I tried both colors and good thing I bought 2 shades, bc mixed together, they're perfect for my skin tone!

Another thing I bought from the SEPHORA COLLECTION was something called a Sun Disk in 01 Copper. I believe this is just a bronzer, but the part that interested me was that it was a peachy copper glow. I think this will be pretty for contouring too. This was also $5 and got great reviews!
I can't believe the size!! There is slight shimmer in it, but you don't notice it when applied.
I bought 2 pencils from the SEPHORA COLLECTION, one is the Brow Sculpting Pencil in Medium and the other is the Flashy Liner Waterproof in Flashy Ultra Green, The brow pencil was $3 and the liner was $1. I love bright colored liners and I love my 24/7 ones from UD, so I'm hoping this will be a good dupe.
On first swipe, the Flashy Liner goes on super smooth!
The last things that I bough from the SEPHORA COLLECTION were their Mineral Loose Powder Foundation. I've tried Bare Minerals before and I ended up being allergic to it, so I'm hoping this is a cheaper substitute (Hopefully waaaaay cheaper @ $3). I'll probably wear this over my foundation as a finishing powder. I got it in Medium 30 and Mat Tan 35.

Well that's part I for my sephora haul. Look for part II soon!!

Housewife Bethenny making skincare?!

I don't know about anyone else, but I live for these housewives shows. I mostly enjoy all the cities (with the exception of a few) and I wasn't surprised when housewife Bethenny Frankel decided to explore skincare.

Bronze me up!

I felt like I cheated by just doing blushes the other day, so I also did a quick post on all the bronzers in my collection.  I don't have very many just because I'm naturally tan all year long and don't need a lot of bronzers to highlight my face.

NARS - Casino
I didn't bother to take a picture of this bronzer bc I hit pan ... I don't mean like you can see a little of bit of the pan through the bronzer, BUT there is no bronzer left because I hit pan lol

Cargo - Medium
I got this in a travel size kit a while ago and I really like it. It's a matte bronzer and it's a little darker than the other ones I own, so it shows up really well on my skin. I'm just not a fan of the packaging bc the lid is hard to open sometimes.

NYC - Sunny
This is the favorite coveted drugstore bronzer. I don't know if I'm convinced that this bronzer lives up to all the hype. I don't dislike it, but I'm not totally in love. I like that it's matte and the texture is super smooth. It gives a good finish without being muddy.

ELF - Warm Bronzer
I bought both the warm and the golden bronzer from ELF and I'm not a huge fan. It's too shimmery for me and it doesn't last very long. I also don't think that the colors blend really well together.

Benefit - Hoola
This is one of my favorite bronzers. It's matte and gives a nice color without making your face look dirty. The packaging is the standard paper box.

Laura Geller - Honey Dipped
I got this bronzer in my June birchbox and it's quickly gone to the top of my list. It's a beautiful color for contouring and highlighting certain parts of your face. It's not matte, but it doesn't have enough shimmer where it over whelms you. It gives you a nice glow!

Fusion Beauty - Illuminating
I bought this from TJ Maxx because I was interested in trying out Fusion's make up. I absolutely love their lipglosses and I was hoping to love the bronzer. I don't know what happened to my bronzer but the texture completely changed when I started using it. It got that weird hardness on the top that certain powders get.

Stila - Shade 02
This was the first bronzer that I ever purchased and it will always have a place in my collection. I like this bronzer bc it has sunscreen, SPF 15. It's also less of a bronze color and more of a golden orange color. This is really good for highlighting certain parts of the face as well.

Physician's Formula Cashmere Wear - Light
The texture of this bronzer is super smooth and I would go as far to say that it was creamy. BUT I hate it! There is so much shimmer in it and most of it doesn't even stay on your face. At the end of the day, I have more shimmer on my clothes and hands than on my face. And it's the annoying, won't wash away kind of shimmer.

Milani Baked Bronzer - Golden
I'm undecided about this bronzer. I want to love it, but this bronzer is super shimmery as well and it's hard to control where the shimmer is when you apply it to certain areas.

Hard Candy So Baked - Tropic
I don't like the color of this bronzer very much. The color is muddy and sometimes if applied wrong, it makes your face look dirty. I wanna try the other colors just because some bloggers compare this to the MAC ones.

Two Faced California in a Compact - Beach Bunny
I've had this bronzer for a long time and it's still one of my all time favorites. I don't know if they still sell it, but I got this one at Ulta. There's isn't just browns in this compact but lighter pinks and peaches as well. So when it all blends together, it makes a nice flush.

Stila - Garden Bliss All Over Shimmer Powder, LE
This is limited edition and I'm not sure this can be considered a bronzer, but I threw it in anyways. I like this a lot and I think that they should make it apart of the permanent line. The flowers are super pigmented and when swirled together, it's a shimmery pinky brown. Perfect for highlighting.
