1 Day Vacay trip to NOVA!

So I normally don't just travel home for 1 day, it's a big pain in the butt and it's a 8 hour round trip drive. This weekend, two of my best friends had events going on and so a couple of friends and I carpooled home. We drove 4 hours to my house then traveled to Manassas, VA to go to a grad party. Then from there we went to Reston, VA to go to a birthday bar crawl. It was a really eventful 12 hrs.

The next day, we went to Tysons Corner VA. If anyone is from VA they know that this is one of the nicest malls to go to and it's apart of the Galleria chains. I did a little shopping, ate lunch and then traveled the 4 hours back to school so I could go to work. It was crazy!

The first stop I made was most certainly into Sephora. My friend had to replenish her foundation and I needed mascara anyways. I controlled myself this time and only bought 3 things. I got 2 lipies and 1 mascara.

Everyone has been raving about the Dior Show Mascara and I just had to try it. I got it in black.

The last 2 things I got were of course lip glosses! I bought one from the Hello Kitty line and one from Sephora's line.

This is the Hello Kitty Big Smile Gloss. I got it in the color Lollipop. It's a hot pink.

The head to the lip gloss is very unique. It's like a rubber piece with holes. I don't think I've ever had a lip gloss like that before.

The second gloss I got was by Sephora. It's their Necter Shine Hydrating Care Gloss. It was on sale for $4 and it has a brush applicator.

I also stopped by Urban Outfitters and looked around. Their clothes isn't really style, but I LOVE their accessories. I ended up buying the cutest keychain. It was on sale for $2.99. It's a piece of sushi!

There was a random discount hair product store. It sold everything from Dermalogica to name brand shampoos and conditioners. I didn't buy any of that but I did buy something from Joico. It's their Sweet Pomegranate Hydrating Body Cleanser. It smells amazing!

I had completely forgotten that the mall had a Lush and you know I had to stop. The store isn't really a store but more of a store front. It has everything you can imagine but you can't really walk around in there. I wanted to try out their face bar soaps so I asked the girl for the smallest size I could buy, and she was super nice and gave me a sample of each. She says the little bar should last me a couple of weeks.

What I really wanted to try was the Coalface Cleanser. The lady told me that it was usually for people with oily skin and acne and she told me if my skin wasn't like that it would be drying. You can purchase it here!

Then she recommended I try Fresh Pharmacy. I liked the smell of it a lot. It was very herbaly and smelled like grass. You can buy it here!

NOTD: Sally Hansen Crackle!

Sally Hansen Pink Crackle with OPI Alpine Snow

Essie Tart Deco

I have the new Sally Hansen's pink crackle on my fingers over a coat of OPI's Alpine Snow. On my ring finer, I have on Essie's Tart Deco. It's my favorite summer polish and I've gotten a lot of complements on it.

oh Hautelook!

So I usually stock Hautelook to see if they're any cosmetic discounts and last week, it was Lorac products. I got on the website too late and a lot of things were sold out already. I didn't wanna hesitate so I bought a couple of things to try out.

The first thing I bought was the On Screen Duo: Powder Highlighter and Creme Eyeshadow/Liner.  This is actually available on their website in a section called VIP Discount. Here's the link. These are on sale right now for only $2.00. When I bought the one off of Hautelook, the one on the Lorac website wasn't on sale yet.

The color I picked up was Champagne and Caviar.

This is what the website says: This innovative, multi-functional eye shadow duo has everything you need to instantly create your own on or off-screen drama! In the swivel top compartment, an ultra-pearlized Powder Highlighter with soothing White Lily Extract allows for buildable coverage and an effervescent frost finish. In the lower compartment, an ultra-rich Cream Eye Shadow/Liner easily blends over the Powder Eye Highlighter for crease-proof, long-lasting color.

The next thing I picked up was a lip product. It's called their Lotsa Lips Plumping Lipgloss. I believe they discontinued it because it's not available anymore on their website. This was only $3.00. The color is called Cutie.

The color is a pretty peach witha little bit of reddish brown undertones. It has a slight vanilla candy smell to it and taste. It doesn't last very long, but it does get a little bit gritty bc of the sparkles in the gloss.

The last thing I bought was one of their eyeshadows. It's apart of their Baked Matte Satin Eyeshadow. I bought the color Posh. It's a very light color that I think I'll use as a highlighter.

This is what their website says: Easy to blend and easy to wear, LORAC’s Baked Matte Satin Eye Shadows are richly pigmented, long-wearing, and silky-smooth. Create countless award show looks with these concentrated, pure matte satin eye makeup shades that can be used wet or dry according to the intensity you desire.

Mini Hot Topic Haul!

I usually try to stay away from Hot Topic, just because the content of that store weirds me out a little bit. After reading that, I feel a little hypocritical because I used to be one of those teenagers that listened to emo music and wore band tee shirts. I have since evolved from that stage, thank the lord.

BUT Hot Topic was having a 50% off sale on their website. Well 50% off of all their clearance. I just happened to glance at it because it was on a forum I read. I didn't even realize this BUT Hot Topic carries Hello Kitty products!!! WooHoo! I was so surprised that I jumped on the chance to order it immediately.

I got my package within 3 days, it apparently came from TN? I just loved how fast it got here.

I ordered 2 Hello Kitty rings. They're a little different than the ones I normally would buy. These actually stand up like a gem on top of the ring. One of them is Hello Kitty's face and the other one is Hello Kitty's whole body.

I also ordered a Hello Kitty necklace. It's her face riding on an airplane.

The last thing I got for myself were these earrings! I have to admit, these were a cart filler so I could have free shipping, but you can't beat the price! They were only $1.99

I also picked up a couple of other things for my cousin as well. She's in her teens and I thought she would like the little nicknacks they had. I didn't take a picture of them bc I sent them to her house, but I bought her some Hello Kitty lip balm, jelly bracelets, Sanrio keychain and some Hello Kitty Rings.

ALAD Day 17: MAC Viva GaGa Glam 2

The Viva GaGa Glam 2 lipie is a pretty nude color, MAC describes it as a “light warm beige.” I think it’s more of a pale beige nude with an amplified finish. The amplified finish gives the lipstick a creamier consistency, a bit more pigmentation, and a semi-matte finish.

I tried the lipie with and without preparation and I definitely found without prep, it was a little bit drier than others, so I highly recommend something under it. Its not that the lipstick is drying, I think it's just the finish of it, which is slightly matte.

When I didn't prep my lips, the wear time was practically non-exsistant and it dried out my lips beyond belief. The next time, I put a balm (like EOS or the ELF lip conditioner) underneath and it improved wear time to about 3 hours, which is average. Without the balm, I found that it also settled into the fine lines around my lips and showed more imperfection.

The MAC lipsticks don't really have a taste to them, but they do have a slight vanilla smell to
it. I don't mind and it fades pretty fast.

The packaging is pretty much the same as the other MAC lipies, but this one has the red trim for the special edition effect. And if you didn't know, all the proceeds from the Viva Glam line goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund. They have raised millions since it started in 1994.

The color of the lipstick is a nude brown in the tube, but when applied, it turns a nice pinkish nude. It's a very wearable shade for ladies of all skin colors. I just love it!

Pigmentation: Buildable but sheer
Long-lasting? About 3 hours with no food or drink
Finish: amplified finish which is semi matte
Texture: Creamy
Scent: slightly vanilla smell
Taste: No taste
Packaging: Black tube with red Gaga accents
Cost: $14.50
Overall: I love this lipstick even though it's drying for my lips. The color is so pretty that I just put on extra balm or just a coat of lipgloss. It's perfect for day or night. The only thing I don't like about it is the availability. You either have to order online or go to a counter/specialty MAC store. For someone like me that lives in the middle of no where, it's a pain.

ALAD Day 16: L'Oreal Color of Hope Lipstick in Color of Hope

This was probably one of the only lipsticks I've ever purchased from L'Oreal. I wasn't too sure on the color, but I took a chance. It's called Color of Hope. I believe these were limited editions because I can't find this shade in stores anymore. The proceeds go to a ovarian research fund.

The color is a nude plum/rosy color. It can sometimes look too brown in certain lights. I like the color, but I would probably only wear this during the fall or winter months.

The packaging is alright. The tube is a bronze color with the words Color of Hope written on the side. It has slight gold accents and there is a sticker on the bottom with the name and color. The one downside to the packaging is that you take a gamble at what the color actually looks like in the tube. There is no way to tell unless you take off the cap.

The lipstick has a heavy perfume smell and taste. I'm not a huge fan, it reminds me of the older make up products.  The actual lipstick does have the L'oreal engraved on it, which I find to be more unique.

The consistency of the lipstick is average, but overall I found the formula too drying. There really isn't a sheen to it, more of a matte finish. The color isn't very forgiving on chapped lips either. But the color is really pretty and I wish I loved the formula more.

Pigmentation: Rich
Long-lasting? About 1 hours with no food or drink
Finish: Matte
Texture: Drying
Scent: Perfume smell
Taste: Plastic lipstick taste
Packaging: Bronze tube with engraving on the outside
Cost: $7 to 8
Overall: I really wanted to love this lipstick, but I found that I loved the color and not the product. It is a very drying lipstick and after I wear it, I find that it makes my top lips chap, so I think something in the formula makes me slightly allergic.

ALAD Day 15: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Dreamy

This lipstick was a complete impulse buy. I went to the store to look for the shade Spotlight Beige, but I CANNOT seem to find that shade anywhere!! I've looked at Target, CVS and WalMart! So I opted for the color Dreamy instead.

The color is Dreamy. I'm not sure about other colors, but this one is not very pigmented. Don't get me wrong, I don't think this color is supposed to be. It's not very far from my natural lip color, so I love that it gives you a slight sheen.  It's a peachy pink color with a slight shimmer.

It applies super smooth and gives the prettiest color. I was slightly surprised because I thought with the higher SPF and the shimmer, it would be a little grittier and not as glossy.

Out of habit, I do apply balm before applying lipstick BUT I have worn this lipstick without balm and it still feels super smooth and doesn't settle into chapped lips. The lipstick has a slight rose smell but no taste. I'm not sure I would recommend this color to ladies with darker lip color because it might not show up as well.

The packaging is also super cute! It's bright purple with their signature logo on the top of the cap.

Rimmel Description

Long-lasting? About 1 hours with no food or drink
Finish: Creamy with a frosty finish

Overall: I loved the first Rimmel lipstick I ever bought so this one definitely didn't disappoint. The quality for the price is worth it. Some shades are really hard to find. I like that the lipstick has a higher SPF, which is perfect for the coming season. I also like that the lipstick isn't drying at all and it gives off the prettiest color.
