ALAD Day 8: Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipstick in Coral Lustre

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lipsticks are an addition to the current Color Sensational Lipsticks. Maybelline claims this lipstick is creamy, full-coverage and contain micro-mirror reflective pigments to create "high shine".

The shade I purchased was 840 in Coral Lustre. It is an orangey colored coral with silver pigments and glossy finish. When you first pull the lipstick out of the tube, the color is a bit bright and shocking, but when applied on the lips, it's subtle and pigmented.

The packing is the same as the other Color Sensational lipsticks, offering a square cap that goes over the base. The only difference is the color of the cap, the new lipies sport a chrome colored cap while the older ones have matching caps to the color line. The cap does attract fingerprints but I hardly ever notice.

The lipsticks have a candy smell to them, but there is no taste.

KEY NOTES:
Pigmentation: Sheer on some colors but true to color on most
Long-lasting? About 3 hours with no food or drink
Finish: A shinny creamy finish
Texture: Creamy and smooth
Scent: Candy smell
Taste: No taste
Packaging: Average. Plastic to cap is flimsy.
Cost: $6.99
Overall: I really like the consistency and the pigmentation of the lipcolor. I expected the quality to be so so and the effect to be gritty and drying. I didn't have high hopes for high shine! haha. Overall, I believe these are worth giving it a try.

    Pros
  • Creamy
  • Pigmentation
  • Easy to apply
  • Long lasting
  • Packaging
    Cons
  • Can be drying sometimes
  • Smell is strong (really sweet)
  • Fingerprints on package
  • Staining on the lips after wear
