ALAD Day 10: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Soft Nude

This lipstick color is raved about in so many blogs, I just had to try it. It's a apricot peachy nude color. It's a good color, not like some nudes that remind me of concealer.

The consistency is smooth, almost waxy and it sits nicely on the lips so that a little goes a long way.  Some people may need more than 1 swipe to get the entire lip, but it won't slide around or feel goopy.  These lipsticks also come in a variety of finishes, but all of them apply very smoothly to the lips. The formulation reminds me a lot of the MAC Cremesheen lipsticks.

One of the things that can be either a pro or a con is the shape of the lipstick at the top. It isn't the traditional cut that comes to a point and widens from there, but instead these lipsticks have a wide point at the top. It makes it harder to apply product to certain areas.

What the product claims to do (from Revlon site):
-Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel-Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin
-Available in range of 20 gorgeous shades

I LOVE the packaging of these lipsticks! They have a quilted and slightly matte surface, so it looks more expensive than they really are. The lipstick also has some weight behind it, which stops it from feeling cheap. The cap closes with a click and doesn't easily come off. The product itself has the word Revlon engraved on the it, which some higher end lipsticks tend to do.

These are the 21 shades they offer: icy nude, petal, pink sugar, candy pink, cherry ice, lilac, mauve, plum, baby pink, carnation, fuchsia, soft rose, raspberry, hazelnut, chocolate, rosy nude, soft nude, peach, coral, true red, and crimson.

KEY NOTES:
Pigmentation: Buildable color; lots of pigmentation with 1 swipe
Long-lasting? About 2 hours with no food or drink
Finish: Creamy
Texture: Smooth and moisturizing
Scent
Taste
Packaging: Chanel inspired; black, matte, quilted, sleek
Cost: $7.99 (higher in some places)
Overall: I really enjoy this lipsticks and I love the packaging. I also love that 'Revlon' is engraved on the lipstick. The lipstick itself is super moisturizing (I always apply balm underneath, right now I'm using EOS in Sweet Mint) and the consistency is really creamy. It also doesn't settle into the lines of my lips.

    Pros
  • Moisturizing
  • Great for layering
  • Packaging
  • Pigmentation
    Cons
  • Price could be cheaper
  • Lipstick is soft; so melts easily
  • Shape of lipstick
